Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III Review

Ite, this album has been the most hyped and anticipated of the year. And it lives up to expectations. Weezy manages to make tracks for all of his fans. The massive hit single 'Lollipop' which is an unashamedly blatant pop crossover attempt, he has the T-Pain assisted track 'Got Money' for the clubs and 'A Milli' for the streets. Other dope tracks include 'Mr. Carter' which features Jay-Z and 'Tie My Hands' with Robin Thicke singing the hook. Both these tracks along with 'A Milli' show Lil Wayne at his lyrical best.
Wayne is surprisingly quite creative on the tracks 'Phone Home' in which he pretends to be an martien and 'Dr Carter' where he pretends to be an doctor who tries to save the careers of struggling MC's.
The only down point is on the final track 'DontGetIt' where Weezy attacks Al Sharpton which makes the listener feel embarrassed on Weezy's behalf.
The album is not quite as brilliant as Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt or Ready to Die but Lil Wayne shows us that Hip-Hop is not dead by delivering the best hip-hop release of 2008.

Verdict: Buy, Burn or Forget

N*E*R*D - Seeing Sounds Review

Ite, this album aint strictly hip-hop, but whatever. The album continues the eclectic feel of N*E*R*D's previous albums. They manage to blend hip-hop, rock, funk and soul quite successfully. Albums highlights include the jazzy single 'Everybody Nose', the guitar riff heavy 'Anti Matter' and the weird party startin track 'Spaz'.
Some of the hooks feel tired, presumably knocks off from the Neptune's work with other artists. Overall, this experimental album is well worth a listen. Credit is due to Pharrell and co. for being extremely creative and not caring about charts or radio airplay.

Verdict: Buy, Burn or Forget
